What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a game like paintball accept you are playing with full sized replicas of real weapons that fire 6mm plastic balls.
Is it legal?
Yes it is. However the current laws specify that airsoft weapons should not exceed 500fps for single shot firing and 328fps for automatic firing. This means that a ball bearing (BB) hitting you will not penetrate the skin.
It should be stressed that airsoft weapons are very dangerous if misused. You should never fire your weapon at unprotected and non-consenting persons. Under UK law it is an offence to carry an airsoft weapon in a PUBLIC PLACE, and carrying one would result in an armed police response. The only way you can carry it in a public place is covered in a securely fastened case with the magazine removed, a non-firing device placed on the muzzle and battery taken out. Never brandish an airsoft weapon or display it where it can be seen by the general public. These weapons at a glance are indistinguishable from the real thing. Remember the general public may not be aware of the difference so may become alarmed at seeing one.
